It Begins – 2011 SD Synod Assembly

This year’s drive to the Synod Assembly was less of an road trip than last year. Rather than a six (or so) hour drive to Rapid City, I just had a quick 50 minute commute to Sioux Falls. Upon arrival I donated blood and the opening worship service has started. I wanted to get started posting, so I’m sitting outside the sanctuary listening.

There are only 5 resolutions in file from the Synod website this year, so I’m not sure what plenary will bring. I’d suspect there will be a few additions when we finally get started. Either way, this year probably won’t bring the drama that we encountered last year after the Church Wide Assembly passed the Human Sexuality: Gift and Trust social statement.

Well, I’m going to join in the worship service. More later.
